Celtic Cat Photos: About Us
At an early age Cathy had an interest in different forms of art. A simple Kodak camera exposed her to photography. An accountant by profession, at home she processed rolls of film and printed out the photographs in a bathroom darkroom. The love of photography has stayed with her, surpassing even her love of music, fiction and Celtic history. With a friend she traveled to Ireland and the Martine Provinces before meeting Ken Gangwer. They found they shared an interest in travel, photography and a love of adventure.
For the last ten years she has been able to pursue her love of photography on a full time basis. Also teaches photography for Continuing Education and is working on a series of books for Thistle and Shamrock Publications.
Ken became interested in photography while in High School in the early 1950’s. Soon he was developing and printing his own pictures. He earned a Chemical Engineering degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ken retired in April 1994 after 39 years of developing and implementing large-scale computer systems in the Space and Defense industry and married Cathy the following month.
Since then, they have been traveling extensively taking pictures for their company. He prefers shooting buildings and landscapes with wide-angle lenses to “capture the full breadth and scope of the scene.” He uses Chinon film cameras and is looking to expand into digital photography in the near future.
